SUBJECT 1: Save the Date - FFY 2018 WIC Local Agency Plan (LAP) Training. LAP training will be conducted June 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30, 2017 at the Department of Health’s ITSD Training Room, located at 920 Wildwood Dr., Jefferson City. This one-day training is optional, but is strongly recommended for new LAP users. Training registration will be available online soon, with a deadline to submit by May 31, 2017. SUBJECT 2: CEU Corner.
An In-Depth Look Into the Dietary Guidelines
This recorded webinar, presented by Toby Amidor, MS, RD, CDN, will discuss what the first year of living with the 2015 Dietary Guidelines has revealed to Registered Dietitians. In that time, the profession has gained a more thorough understanding of the changes to the Dietary Guidelines, as well as the implications of these changes. Moreover, there has been an opportunity to explore and resolve the numerous controversies regarding the Dietary Guidelines that emerged in the dietetics profession over the past year.
Simple Cooking With Heart
This internet-based activity webinar will include providing an overview of at-home meal preparation and consumption as a key preventative health measure, discussing barriers patients/clients experience when it comes to at-home meal preparation, educating on patient-centered assessment and action planning for providers to initiate behavioral changes, and introducing Simple Cooking with Heart program tools and materials as resources for patients/clients to gain and maintain culinary skills through low-cost, nutritional meal preparation. Participation and successful completion of this continuing education activity includes a post-test and survey to claim your certificate.
JOB POSTING: WIC Nutritionist - Taney County Health Department. The Taney County Health Department will be accepting resumes for a full time non-exempt Nutritionist for the WIC Program. This position will be responsible for determining eligibility of WIC participants and providing nutrition and breastfeeding counseling to WIC participants. IBCLC would be preferred. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in dietetics, public health nutrition, human nutrition, nutritional sciences, nutrition and fitness, sports nutrition, restaurant and food management, foods, family and consumer sciences, human environmental sciences, or home economics - including or supplemented by at least one course in Diet Therapy I and II, and one course in Community Nutrition or Nutrition In Life Cycle/Life Cycle Nutrition.

JOB POSTING: WIC Certifier - Affinia Healthcare. Affinia Healthcare has an immediate opening for a part-time (24 hours per week) WIC Certifier in the WIC program, working Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The candidate will perform the duties required to issue WIC food instruments to eligible women, infants, and children participants; and obtain data such as demographics, anthropometrics, hemoglobin levels, oral assessment, nutritional assessment, and other medical and health information to certify WIC participants. The selected candidate will assess the WIC participants’ information for certification eligibility. Strong customer service skills required. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED; 1+ years WIC experience preferred.
