SUBJECT 4: Attendance at 2016 WIC Conference - Survey. The 2016 Missouri WIC Conference will be in St. Louis in October. The conference will begin at 1:00 on Wednesday, October 26 and end at noon on Friday, October 28, 2016. The cost of the hotel may range from $125.00 to $189.00 or the Prevailing Government Per Diem rate plus taxes. In order to negotiate a contract with the hotel and get the best room rate possible from the hotel, the Missouri WIC Association would like to know how many conference attendees will be staying at the conference hotel. We are asking that each Local WIC Provider complete the attached survey and e-mail it to Rhonda Breitenbecher at email@example.com. (ONE ATTACHMENT)
SUBJECT 5: Enfamil Reguline Infant Formula. The Enfamil Reguline infant formula was just added to MOWINS on February 1. The state office is receiving calls from some local WIC providers that their WIC participants cannot find the Enfamil Reguline formula at the WIC retailers. Our Retailer Coordinator did receive a call that Walmart stores are beginning to carry the Enfamil Reguline. You may want to check with the retailers in your area to see if they carry the Reguline before you print checks. The State WC office will provide an update as more information becomes available. If you have any questions, please contact your District TA Nutritionist.
SUBJECT 6: Transition Status - Similac Expert Care Alimentum (Powder). Please note the following information:
- Alimentum powder (12.1 oz. can) will be available at most WIC retailers in April.
- Most retailers will continue to stock Alimentum powder (16 oz.) in February & March.
There are two food items in MOWINS:
Similac Expert Care
Old Can Size
16 OZ SIMILAC EXPERT CARE ALIMENTUM PWD
New Can Size
12.1 OZ SIMILAC EXPERT CARE ALIMENTUM PWD
You may want to check with your local WIC retailer regarding the availability of the new can size before printing checks. The State WC office will provide an update with the transition status as more information becomes available. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov
SUBJECT 7: Goat Milk Issuance. Currently there are two types of canned goat milk available for issuance in MOWINS: evaporated and powdered. The evaporated milk is the whole fat version, while the powdered milk is the nonfat version. To make it easier to understand the difference, the description of the evaporated milk will change from 12 OZ EVAPORATED MEYENBERG GOAT MILK to 12 OZ EVAPORATED MEYENBERG GOAT (WHOLE) MILK. This change will go into effect on February 16th. If you have any questions, please contact your TA Nutritionist.
SUBJECT 8: Learning Dynamics Customer Services Tips. Attached is the latest issue of “Customer Service Notes for WIC” from Learning Dynamics. The topic for this issue is making mistakes and how we can learn from them. (ONE ATTACHMENT)
