SUBJECT 1: Updates on WIC Approved Food List. Below is a list of updates for the WIC Approved Food List:
Updated WIC Approved Food List (Effective May 1, 2016)
The WIC approved food list is being updated in order to increase whole wheat pasta choices. Its cover page will be Navy Blue. All local WIC Coordinators will receive a link to order the updated food list on March 1, 2016.
Current WIC Approved Food List
The current WIC approved food list (purple cover) is getting low on supply and the warehouse will not be able to accept orders when you use the WIC 8 form. All local WIC Coordinators will receive a link to order the current WIC approved food list on March 1, 2016 instead.

SUBJECT 2: VENA Refresher Training - Additional Training Dates. Due to the continued overwhelming response of staff wanting to attend the VENA Refresher Trainings, we have added more days and sites for trainings. Please see below for the updated list of dates and locations, as well as which trainings are full:
- March 10 - Jefferson City (limited space available)
- March 17 - Independence (FULL)
- March 24 - Independence
- March 31 - St. Joseph
- April 11 - St. Charles (FULL)
- April 13 - Cape Girardeau (FULL)
- April 18 - Springfield (FULL)
- April 19 - Springfield (FULL)
- April 27 - Columbia
- April 28 - Kirksville
- May 3 - Jefferson City (new)
- May 5 - St. Charles
- May 24 - Springfield (new)
- May 26 - West Plains (new)
Space is limited to 25 participants at each site. You may register for the training here. If you have already registered for training and wish to cancel your registration or change the training location, please notify Michele Bailey by email at Michele.Bailey@health.mo.gov by April 1, 2016. Because the class space is limited, others have been placed on a waiting list for this class. Your notification will enable others to participate in this training opportunity. If you have any questions, please contact your TA Nutritionist.
SUBJECT 3: WIC Help Desk Coverage March 10 and 11, 2016. The WIC Help Desk Staff will be in training all day Thursday, March 10th and Friday March 11th. Email is preferred during this time for any urgent issues but agencies should feel free to leave a voicemail as phones will be checked periodically throughout the day.

SUBJECT 4: Changes to WIC Nutrition Education Handout - Formula Preparation. Please note the following changes:
Formula Preparation Guidelines/Handouts
- Guidelines for Infant Formula Preparation handout (Bilingual #191)
- Discontinue use effective March 1, 2016.
- No longer available at DHSS Warehouse.
- Infant Formula Preparation – WIC Learning Online (Attachments)
- Begin using until notified from the State WIC Office.
- Print and make copies as needed.
- Upcoming! New Formula Preparation Handout from USDA
- The new handout is being developed by USDA and is expected to be available around May/June 2016.
- The State WIC office will provide the new formula preparation handout when it becomes available.
JOB POSTING: Full-Time Health Clerk/Health Professional Assistant (HPA) - Family Care Health Centers. Family Care Health Centers is accepting applications for a full time WIC Clerk/Health Professional Assistant (HPA). Responsibilities include determining eligibility of WIC applicants, collecting and documenting height, weight, hgb data, and providing clerical support. Strong customer service skills required. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED required; 1+ years WIC experience preferred. The St. Louis County Department of Public Health has an opening for a Health Education Supervisor to work in the WIC Program. This is a full-time, grant-funded Registered Dietitian position working out of a North County location. Primary responsibilities include supervising the operation of a WIC office comprised of Office Service Representatives; Nutritionists; and a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, as well as, completing the job functions of a WIC nutritionist. The Health Education Supervisor requires 2 years of Registered Dietitian experience preferably in WIC along with supervisory experience. Applications will be accepted through February 23, 2016.
