JOB OPENING: NUTRITIONIST - CRESCENT CLINIC WIC (JACKSON COUNTY, MO)
SUBJECT 1: NWA Leadership Conference Scholarships. The Missouri WIC Office is sponsoring two scholarships for LWP staff to attend the 2016 NWA Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., February 28-March 1. This conference provides a forum to discuss Federal initiatives affecting the health and nutritional well-being of WIC mothers and young children, and WIC’s role as a preventative public health nutrition program. The deadline for applications is January 8. Please see the attached application for more information. (ONE ATTACHMENT)
SUBJECT 2: FFY 2015 End-Of-Year Invoicing Due December 10, 2015. The deadline for submission of FFY 2015 end-of-year invoices is Thursday, December 10, 2015. Expenses must have been incurred prior to October 1, 2015 to qualify for the FFY 2015 funding year. The grant year will close the end of December and payments beyond this date are not possible. SUBJECT 3: SAVE THE DATE - 2016 VENA Refresher Trainings. VENA Refresher Trainings have been scheduled for 2016 as indicated in the dates and locations below. This is a refresher and follow-up training to the VENA trainings provided in 2006 and 2007. At least one counseling staff from each agency is required to attend. All other counseling staff are encouraged to attend. Five (5) CEU hours are tentatively approved for this training. Agenda is attached. Dates and locations are listed below:
March 10 - Maple Conference Room, Jefferson City
March 17 - MDHSS Northwest District Office, Large Conference Room, Independence
April 11 - St. Charles County Department of Community Health, St. Charles
April 13 - MDHSS Cape Girardeau Office, Conference Room 2, Cape Girardeau
April 18 - The Library Center, Auditorium, Springfield
April 27 - Columbia/Boone Department of Public Health and Human Services, Columbia
April 28 - Missouri Department of Conservation, Kirksville

SUBJECT 4: Submissions for the CEU Corner. Local agencies are invited to submit continuing education opportunities for the CEU Corner in the WIC Updates. Send items to Rita Arni at email@example.com for posting. The CEU may be offered as a live presentation, a live or recorded webinar, or a conference that presents nutrition information applicable to our WIC population. No-cost CEUs are preferred; however, CEUs with a cost will also be considered for the CEU Corner.
SUBJECT 5: Webinar About Maryland's VENA Efforts. USDA is providing a webinar about the state of Maryland’s process of Developing Staff Confidence in Participant Focused Counseling Skills. This is scheduled for Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 1:00-2:00, central time. Connection information is not yet available but will be forwarded before the call.
JOB OPENING: Nutritionist - Crescent Clinic WIC (Jackson County, MO). Crescent Clinic WIC has an opening for a temporary Nutritionist/Dietitian for the WIC program to cover employee leave between February 2016 and April 2016. Flexible hours between 9am and 5pm, ranging from 10-32 hours/week. Will consider hiring 2 part-time nutritionists. WIC experience in the state of Missouri is required. Willing to work around your current schedule if already employed within MO WIC.
This position will be responsible for determining eligibility of WIC participants and providing nutrition & breastfeeding counseling to WIC participants. Applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Foods and Nutrition, Home Economics, or closely related field, with at least 15 semester hours in Human Nutrition - including courses in Diet Therapy and Community Nutrition.
