SUBJECT 2: Clarifications to Food & Formula Reference Guidelines (FFRG Page 14). Please see the attachment titled “Supplement to FFRG Page 14 and Milk Substitutes” that clarifies:

  • WIC certifier’s roles indicated on Page 14 of FFRG (Effective April 1, 2015)
  • Issuing milk substitutes

SUBJECT 3: WIC Approved Cold Cereal Container Sizes. The information about the approved sizes of cold cereals was not included in the WIC Approved Food List (Effective April 1, 2015). SUBJECT 4: Corrections to the WIC Approved Food List (Effective April 1, 2015) - Spanish. Errors were found in the WIC Approved Food List in Spanish. Please share with your staff and participants the attachment titled “Corrected Page 14 - WIC Food List Spanish”. The corrected Page 14 will be printed and will be shipped to local WIC providers who have Spanish speaking participants. SUBJECT 5: Needs Assessment Survey for Translated Resource Items. Currently, the State WIC office has provided resource items in up to 17 different languages available for downloading from the DHSS website and in Spanish available from the DHSS warehouse. We would like to know if your agency has utilized these resource items between January 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Local WIC coordinators will receive an e-mail message with a link to the survey on April 1, 2015. Please complete the survey by May 31, 2015. The information obtained through this survey will be used for planning purposes. Therefore, we encourage each agency to complete the survey. If you have any questions/suggestions, please feel free to contact Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov

SUBJECT 6: CEU CORNER. This section will have Continuing Education Opportunities posted for WIC staff:

  • Washington State University has a webinar series on School Nutrition and Wellness. The certificate focuses on the current health status of today’s youth. The program is focused towards anyone working in a child health setting. The course is 8 weeks long and offered year-round. WIC Positions

JOB OPENING: Breastfeeding Peer Counselor - St. Charles County Health Department. The Saint Charles County Health Department is currently accepting applications for Breastfeeding Peer Counselor position within the WIC Program. The selected candidate will give basic breastfeeding information and support to new mothers and help mothers achieve their own breastfeeding goals. Personal breastfeeding experience is required. Applications will be accepted on a continuing basis until the position is filled or a sufficient number of qualified candidates have applied. All applications must be submitted only through the Saint Charles County Self-Service Website at http://hr.sccmo.org/. Faxed, e-mailed or printed applications will not be accepted.
