JOB OPPORTUNITY: Part-Time Nutritionist - Benton County Health Department WIC

SUBJECT 1: WIC Conference Questionnaire. In preparing for the upcoming Town Hall meeting at the WIC Conference, the State Office would like to give LWP Staff the opportunity to recognize their agency, or a fellow agency, for their Dedication to Excellence in Customer Service, Nutrition Education, Breastfeeding Promotion or Teamwork. Please take a moment to complete the online questionnaire and tell us who you would like to nominate as well as why they should be considered for this recognition. The deadline for nominations is Friday, September 5, 2014. If you have any questions, please contact your TA team

SUBJECT 2: Microcuvette & Analyzer Deliveries. Agencies scheduled to receive a shipment of microcuvettes and/or analyzers should begin receiving their shipment the week of August 29, 2014.

Once you have received your order, please verify the number of microcuvettes and analyzers received with the number listed on the packing slip. If the number of microcuvettes/analyzers in the package is the same as the packing slip, sign and date the packing slip. Please fax the packing slip to Lori Baysinger at 573-526-1470, within one week of receiving the shipment. Confirmation on the packing slip is required in order for the State WIC Office to pay for the microcuvettes and send WIC tags for the analyzers. If the number of microcuvettes/analyzers received is different from the packing slip, please call Lori Baysinger at 800-392-8209. If you are unable to locate your packing slip, please send an email stating how many boxes or analyzers you received and the date you received the shipment to Thank you for your prompt cooperation

SUBJECT 3: Crystal Reports. New reports were posted to Crystal on August 25, 2014. Please review the table of contents (attached) or at If you have any questions about the new reports, please contact your TA team member. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

SUBJECT 4: Breast Pump Order. Medela is planning to ship the requested breast pumps the week of August 24, 2014. Please remember that the following procedure must be followed in order to verify receipt of shipment for payment and to send the required WIC tags:

  • Immediately upon receipt of shipment, please locate the packing slip and verify that your agency received the products and quantities stated.
  • Sign the packing slip to verify the order is correct.
  • Fax the signed packing slip to the state WIC office at 573-526-1470. WIC tags will be mailed upon receipt of your packing slip.
  • If your agency did not receive what was stated on the packing slip, please contact the state WIC office immediately.

SUBJECT 5: Save the Date - VENA - The Power of Influence. USDA will be hosting a VENA webinar on September 24. Call in information will be provided soon. This webinar will be recorded and posted (in October 2014) on WIC Works. Information about the call:

SUBJECT 6: New Nutrition Education Item Cup (Moove to 1% Milk and/or Skim Milk). The State WIC office has developed the Moove to 1% Milk and/or Skim Milk plastic cup to assist local agency staff to teach participants on the recommended amount of milk intake that WIC children (2-4 years old) need on a daily basis. We hope that this new teaching tool helps WIC children and parents learn and increase milk intake and eventually establish a healthy eating pattern. On September 3, 2014, all local WIC coordinators will receive a link to order this cup. The quantity is limited. If you have questions, please contact Takako Tagami at (ONE ATTACHMENT)

SUBJECT 7: MOWINS Release - September 30, 2014. As previously announced, MOWINS will shut down promptly at 5pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Agencies will be able to log back into MOWINS at 6am on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Please plan your clinics accordingly. Changes will be made in MOWINS production for the new food rule, nutrition education contacts for WICHealth.Org, and breastfeeding amount descriptions.

Release 2.20, which contains fixes for the February check issuance, was also going to be pushed to production during this time, however, the release is not ready to go to production. We will be working with our contractor to get the necessary fixes completed as soon as possible. As soon as a new release date is set, we will notify you. We apologize for any inconvenience and we thank you for your patience as we work to ensure that we push a quality release to production.

SUBJECT 8: A User Feedback Survey Regarding Translated Materials. The State WIC office plans to conduct a user feedback survey regarding translated materials. On September 3, 2014, local WIC coordinators will receive an e-mail message with a link to the survey. If your agency has any staff members who speak and read the following languages, please complete the survey.
