  1. Mid Certification Assessment for Extended Certifications: The state WIC office will be implementing the extended certification May 5, 2014. In preparation for the enhancement we have provided information that will explain what will be required for the Mid Cert Assessment (MCA). When we receive approval from USDA for WOM policies we will notify you via the WIC Updates. We are developing a list of FAQs and will include your question(s) and a reply in the list of FAQs. Send your questions to your TA Nutritionist. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

  2. Release 2.19 Defect that Affects Direct Shipments: Currently, when a direct shipment is “issued” through Add/Replace, as is often the case, checks are printed for the direct shipment formula. This is a defect. The Help Desk is advising Local WIC Providers (LWP) to write VOID on the check and shred the check. The LWP should NOT VOID the check in the system. Although not required, it is helpful if the LWP enters a general note to indicate the printed check was shredded.

    Implications for the LWP are:

    • If this check is given to the participant, it could possibly be redeemed.
    • If the check is voided in the system, it will look as if the participant did not receive the direct ship formula, and if no other checks were issued, the LWP will not get the caseload count.

A direct ship check for formula that is issued through “Issue Benefits” will show up in the system but will not print a check. “Issue Benefits” is working as it should for a direct shipment. Contact your assigned state technical assistance staff with questions.

  3. Upcoming Size Change to Peanut Butter: Attached is a change to the WIC approved size of peanut butter. The new approved size will be implemented in MOWINS on May 5, 2014. Please share with all local WIC provider staff. If you have any questions, please contact Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

If you have any questions about the new and/or revised reports, please contact your TA team member. (ONE ATTACHMENT)
