  1. 2012 WIC Customer Satisfaction Survey: The 2012 WIC Customer Satisfaction Survey results are now available. The results are attached and are on the WIC web site at: http://health.mo.gov/living/families/wic/frauddatalinks/.

A total of 1,357 participants completed the survey at 20 local WIC providers all over the state. One of the reasons for the survey is to evaluate communication issues that may arise with participants whose first language is a language other than English. For that reason, in addition to English, surveys were translated into Arabic, Bosnian, Russian, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese. A total of 755 non-English speaking participants completed the survey.

If you have questions, please contact Mark Davis at Mark.Davis@health.mo.gov or 573-526-5323 or 800-392-8209. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

  2. WIC Retailer e-Learning Training Modules: NEW! There are four new e-Learning training modules for WIC retail retailers available on the WIC Retailer Training website to assist in training store personnel. The modules are: What is WIC?, WIC Check Transactions, WIC Approved Foods-Part 1 and WIC Approved Foods-Part 2. Additional training modules are being developed for pharmacy staff and cash office staff. The modules are interactive and each module has a quiz at the end of the presentation. The trainee must receive a 75% or higher score on the quiz in order to be able to print a certificate of completion. Information will be sent to all authorized WIC retail retailers about these new training tools that are available on the WIC Retailer website. The WIC retailer training website is located at: http://health.mo.gov/living/families/wic/wicretailer/.  Please feel free to share information about these training modules at your agency and with WIC families. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact Bridgett Henderson, WIC Retailer Agreements and Training, by email at Bridgett.Henderson@health.mo.gov or by calling 573/441-6236.

  3. DHSS Program for Dietetic Interns 2014-2015: We are pleased to announce that our four dietetic intern slots for the 2014-2015 year have been filled. As indicated in a February WIC Updates, two dietetic interns were pre-selected. Nationwide computer matching to fill the two additional slots has now been completed. We had some excellent candidates for the Missouri Program. Our two computer match interns are Kristen Marshall and Rachel Pence. As indicated in February, our two LWP interns are Ziaieh Jafari (Grace Hill Health Centers) and Megan Zehner (St. Louis Co. WIC). For more information about the MDHSS Program for Dietetic Interns, please contact Vicki Strickland at Vicki.Strickland@health.mo.gov or 573-526-7961.

  4. Messages from the Bureau of Immunizations: In recognition of National Infant Immunization Week, April 26 - May 3, 2014, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services sent each local WIC provider a supply of childhood immunization tip cards that highlight the importance of immunizations for placement in every participant ID folder for the month of April. If you need to order additional tip cards please visit http://health.mo.gov/living/wellness/immunizations/niiworderform.php.

The Bureau of Immunization Assessment and Assurance has a DVD available that contains personal stories of families affected by vaccine-preventable diseases. These videos stress the importance of immunizations. Please play them in your waiting rooms during WIC clinic hours.
