Brief Description

The Missouri State Public Health Laboratory conducts IgM antibody testing for various arboviruses including Dengue and Chikungunya on serum samples.

Methodology

Dengue IgM and Chikungunya IgM antibody detection on single acute or convalescent serum using Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).

Testing is available only after consultation with the Arbovirus Program (573-751-6113 or (toll-free) 1-866-628-9891).

Specimen Collection

Collection kit contains one red-top blood collection tube, and freeze pillows.

At least 1 ml of serum

Storage/Transport

Serum should be refrigerated and shipped on freeze packs if received within 48 hours. If greater than 48 hours specimen should be frozen and shipped on dry ice.
