State Licensure
An annual inspection of a facility to verify compliance with state rules and regulations governing long-term care facilities.
Recertification
An inspection of a facility every 9 to 15 months after admission to the Medicare and/or Medicaid program(s) to verify compliance with all Federal regulatory requirements.
Followup/Revisit
An on-site inspection to verify correction of deficiencies cited during a prior inspection.
Life Safety Code
A set of standards for safety from fire prepared by the members of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
Complaint Investigation
An inquiry into a reported problem regarding potential regulatory violations.
Initial Certification
An inspection of a facility before admission to the Medicare and/or Medicaid program(s) to verify compliance with all Federal regulatory requirements.
