TBI Grant

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has received a Traumatic Brain Injury Implementation Partnership Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration for 2009-2013.

Missouri’s grant may be referenced as the Missouri Traumatic Brain Injury Implementation Partnership Project. The overall goal of the project is “to provide individuals with traumatic brain injuries and their families with improved access to comprehensive, multidisciplinary, coordinated and easy accessible systems of care.”

The target populations of the grant project are children and youth, military service members and their families, individuals in rural areas, and under-served.

The grant initiatives will focus on increasing public awareness and knowledge about TBI, and enhancing service delivery systems through partnerships with agencies and organizations that serve individuals with TBI.  Goals will be achieved through collaborative partnerships and by gathering information about needs from individuals living with TBI and their families.

The MO Head Injury Advisory Council serves as the advisory body to the grant project.  A TBI Grant Volunteer Ombudsman has been appointed to be a voice for individuals with TBI and their families relative to the grant initiatives.

If you are interested in more information about the grant, contact the TBI Grant Coordinator in the Bureau of Special Health Care Needs at 1-800-451-0669.
