The new ID folder is currently available at the DHSS warehouse. Please click here to see what changes have been made. If you have any questions, please contact your district TA team.

SUBEJCT 2: Your Feedback is Needed! Harvesters Food Bank. Feeding America, the nation's network of food banks which serve the food pantries and kitchens, is working to understand and support the intersections of health and hunger. Their website (www.hungerandhealth.org) has research and evidence about their work around the nation and innovative ways to become involved. By understanding how food insecurity impacts the health of the low-income individuals and our communities, we can work to improve those health outcomes. A few places to start on their website are Hunger and Health 1016 Must-Read Studies about Hunger and HealthFuture of Food Partnership Webinars, and finally a quick video.

In the Midwest, Harvesters food bank serves 26 counties in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Data shows that 62% of families have at least one person in their household with hypertension and 37% have at least one person in their household with diabetes. This is slightly higher than the national average for this population. Harvesters' Nutrition Department is partnering with food pantries and kitchens to help them make the healthy choice the easy choice. They are hosting a variety of webinars throughout the year for anyone who may be interested in learning more information. September 26th will be the first one focusing on diabetes and changes that can be implemented at pantry settings. For information on how to get more involved or how to attend one of the webinars, please contact the Nutrition Department at nutrition@harvesters.org

Whether you are currently involved or not, they have made available a short 7-question survey, so they can better understand the work already being done, as well as potential partnership opportunities.
