SUBJECT 2: WIC Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic Application. The purpose of this statewide effort is to implement evidence-based breastfeeding strategies to encourage and recognize local agencies that offer an optimal level of breastfeeding support. The WIC Breastfeeding Task Force worked with the State Agency to develop the specific criteria that must be met to be recognized as a "Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic".

If your agency would like to apply for "Breastfeeding Friendly" status for FFY2018, please click here to complete the online application. If you completed an ASAP request for the BFPC application you will also have access to this application. Once it is determined that your agency meets all the criteria, your agency will be recognized as a "Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic" for FFY2018 and will receive a framed certificate to hang in your clinic and additional funding. The deadline for completing the application is COB on Friday, May 26, 2017. If you have any questions please contact Lisa Schlientz at Lisa.Schlientz@health.mo.gov or by phone at 573-751-6468.

SUBJECT 3: ASAP Information for Completing BFPC and WIC Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic Applications. The applications for the Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program and the Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic designation are completed online. In order to use the online application, you must complete an ASAP request to have access. Having access to the WIC online invoice and the LAP does not provide you access to this application. If you did this a previous year, you will NOT need to do it again this year. Below are the values that need to be selected when completing the ASAP form:

The Happy Healthy Kitchen: Creating Delicious Meals to Support Dietary Advice
It’s been said that no food is truly nutritious until it’s actually eaten. Helping clients discover the enjoyment factor in adopting a healthy dietary pattern begins one bite at a time. Because taste is one of the most powerful motivators in getting people to try and continue to consume healthful foods, this recorded webinar shares creative culinary ideas to add to the nutrition education toolbox. Research on the most common shortfall nutrients will be reviewed and matched with practical meal pattern ideas to help fill in the gaps. In line with the 2015 US Dietary Guidelines, recipe ideas to help decrease consumption of salt, saturated fat and added sugars will also be addressed. This complimentary webinar is brought to you with support from Kellogg's and is presented by Carolyn O’Neil.
