SUBJECT 3: CEU Corner.
Nutritional Supplements: Exploring Evidence-Based Use in Cancer Prevention and Cardiovascular Health
It seems nearly every week brings a new study addressing nutritional supplements' potential to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease or cancer. Contradictory findings pose a challenge when trying to provide evidence-based advice for patients and clients about using supplements to reduce risk of these two major chronic diseases. This Becky Dorner & Associates and Today's Dietitian joint recorded webinar will help dietitians address these questions, not relying on any single study, but based on the overall landscape of current research. Focused especially on adult use of antioxidant, Vitamin D, Omega-3 and multivitamin supplements, they will look at the background behind divergent findings on potential protection and concerns about potential lack of benefit or even risk.

Raise Good Eaters: Prevent Child Feeding Problems
The Satter Feeding Dynamics Model illustrates that when parents follow a developmentally appropriate division of responsibility in feeding, children grow up to be competent with eating. Parents who follow this model raise children to be competent with eating by taking leadership with the what, when, and where of feeding and giving children autonomy with the how much and whether of eating. Eating-competent children feel good about eating, push themselves along to eat the food their parents eat, eat as much as they need to grow well, and are a pleasure to include in family meals. This live webinar, presented by the Ellyn Satter Institute in association with Dietitian Central, will be held at 2:00 pm on September 15th. There is a registration cost of $18 for this training. Please contact your District Nutritionist for approval.
