Evidence-Based Nutrition: The Problem of Proof - December 1st
Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) are accepted as the “gold standard” for establishing cause-and-effect relationships. Nonetheless, most nutrition RCTs have demonstrated null outcomes with regard to reducing the risk of chronic disease. This has led to skepticism about the importance of specific nutrients or nutrient combinations in health and disease by clinicians, researchers, funding agencies, and the public. There are distinct differences between the evidence needed for testing of drugs versus what is needed for the development of nutrient requirements and dietary guidance. In this Nature Made®-sponsored live webinar, on December 1st from 1:00-2:00 pm, Jeffrey Blumberg, PhD, Professor at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, will provide an overview of the common research strategies and provide RDs with relevant and practical skills for interpreting data and evidence-based recommendations to patients and clients.

Diet, Microbiome and Health: Past, Present and Future
Conagra Science Institute’s Nutri-Bites® Live Webinar Series will take place on December 15th from 1:00-2:00 pm. Presenter Cindy Davis, PhD from the Office of Dietary Supplements at the National Institutes of Health will explain what the microbiome is, the evidence that diet can influence the microbiome, how the microbiome can influence the response to dietary components, and the relationship between diet, the microbiome and disease risk.

Eating Frequency and Weight Management
This pre-recorded webinar will help the viewer understand the role of regulation as it pertains to energy balance; understand the contribution of portion size to positive energy balance; understand the contribution of eating frequency to positive energy balance; and develop effective weight management strategies for patients desiring to manage their body weight. The presenter of this Conagra Science Institute’s Nutri-Bites® Webinar Series is Richard D. Mattes, MPH, PhD, RD.
