SUBJECT 1: Mandatory Revision 14 Training - Save The Date. This training via conference call will provide attendees with an overview of the USDA Risk Factor changes that will be implemented October 2, 2016. A CPA/Nutritionist from each agency is required to participate in at least one session. Other certifying staff is encouraged to attend. The purpose of this training is to cover the following topics:

  1. Risk Factor 201 Low Hematocrit/Low Hemoglobin
  2. Risk Factor 211 Elevated Blood Lead Levels
  3. Risk Factor 332 Short Interpregnancy Interval (formerly known as Closely Spaced Pregnancies)
  4. Risk Factor 425 Inappropriate Nutrition Practices for Children
  5. Risk Factor 601 Breastfeeding Mother of Infant at Nutritional Risk
  6. Risk Factor 602 Breastfeeding Complications or Potential Complications (Women)

SUBJECT 2: CEU Corner.
VENA: Connecting the Dots between Assessment and Intervention is available through WIC Learning Online for 1 CEU for RDs and RNs. It supports VENA (Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment) as the bridge that connects the assessment to the intervention so that WIC can provide effective participant-centered services (PCS). Four lessons in this course include VENA and Participant-Centered Services, Engaging Participants in Education and Counseling, Path to Participant Success: Food Packages and Referral, and Establishing Goals and Following Up. WIC Positions

JOB POSTING: Nutritionist - Crescent Clinic WIC (Jackson County, MO). Crescent Clinic WIC has an opening for a Nutritionist/Dietitian for the WIC program 35 hours per week. This position will be responsible for determining eligibility of WIC participants and providing nutrition & breastfeeding counseling to WIC participants. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Foods and Nutrition, Home Economics, or closely related field, with at least 15 semester hours in Human Nutrition including courses in Diet Therapy and Community Nutrition. WIC experience preferred but not required. Certification as a Registered Dietitian is not required. This position is open until filled.
