SUBJECT 2: MOWINS Release 2.26 (Nutrition Risk Factors) Staggered Download - Local Agency Survey. In an effort to minimize impact on our servers (and the speed of downloads in agencies), we will have a staggered download beginning October 2. After reading the information below, please complete the survey located at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ML6D79D
by September 16 to let us know when Local Agencies plan to download.

The State Agency will push this release on October 1, 2016. Please ensure that all staff is out of MOWINS by 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 1. Installation on the agency workstations can begin any time after 12:00 pm on Sunday, October 2, 2016. Please note, this is voluntary and we are not requiring any agency to work on Sunday to download the release. Agencies which install the release on Sunday will need to log into MOWINS, allow the download, log back in when prompted, close the clinic window, do the reset/update, and then log out of MOWINS.

Agencies with Monday clinics that did not download on Sunday can install workstations Monday morning. We are requesting agencies that do not have clinics on Monday to wait until at least Monday afternoon, or later in the week, to login/download. If you have machines that are not being used, they do not need to be updated on Monday, October 3. Please wait to update them until the next time they are used or any time after the week of October 3-7.

Before doing the reset, close the clinic application window, but make sure that the “W” icon is still open in the lower icon tray. When the clinic application window is open, it locks the data files on the workstation, which doesn’t always allow the necessary updates to occur.

If you have any questions, please contact Jamie Bish with the MOWINS Help Desk at 573-751-6489, 800-554-2544, or Jamie.Bish@health.mo.gov

SUBJECT 4: Non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) Infant Formulas. Enfamil has introduced non-GMO infant formulas and some participants have been asking if these products are WIC allowable. Please advise participants that non-GMO formulas are not on our WIC infant formula contract and the following are not approved by the Missouri WIC program:

According to Enfamil’s website the non-GMO formulas have the same ingredients as existing varieties and the difference between the two is how some of these ingredients are sourced. The website also states that they cannot ensure the complete absence of genetically engineered materials in their products that are labeled non-GMO. Please refer to Enfamil’s website for more information or contact your district nutritionist.
