JOB OPENING: PART-TIME DIETITIAN/NUTRITIONIST - OSAGE COUNT HEALTH DEPARTMENT

SUBJECT 1: eWIC Pilot Counties. Nine counties in the Mid-Missouri Region have been selected to pilot the transition from paper checks to EBT (eWIC). These counties are Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Miller, Moniteau and Osage. These counties met all criteria and were approved by USDA as our pilot area. We anticipate kicking off the pilot in the Fall of 2016.

SUBJECT 2: 2015 Annual WIC Retailer Training. In July and August 2015, there will be annual training sessions held statewide for authorized WIC retail retailers. If your agency would like send a representative to attend a training session in your area, please submit a training registration form by 5 p.m. on June 30, 2015. The registration form can be submitted by email to Jeannie Phelps at Jeannie.Phelps@health.mo.gov or by fax to 573-526-1470. The registration form and training schedule is attached.

The training sessions will last approximately 90 minutes. Please be aware that WIC retail retailers will be given first priority for training sessions as the training is mandatory for all WIC Retailers. If the session you have selected is full, you will be contacted to attempt to register you for another session in your area.

SUBJECT 3: Tentative - Save the Date - University of Minnesota National Maternal Nutrition Intensive Course Seminar telecast: Nutrition Education Opportunity: WIC Registered Dietitians, Nutritionists, and Public Health Nurses who serve pre-conceptual, pregnant, post-partum and breastfeeding women will want to take advantage of the full two-day National Maternal Nutrition Intensive Course Seminar shown on September 24-25 and again on October 15-16, 2015 in Jefferson City. This year's continuing education program focuses on Vitamin D in Pregnancy and Lactation, Promoting Breastfeeding Among Obese Women, Environmental & Policy Approaches to Breastfeeding Promotion & Support, Depression and Physical Activity in Pregnancy & Postpartum, Fetal Origins of Disease, Choline Supplementation in Children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, Nutrient Contents of Infant and Toddler Foods, and Food Allergies. This training is presented by the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health and will be shown by the WICNS’ Nutrition Training Institute (NTI). Please watch for registration form and additional details to be sent in a few weeks.

Please note: there is the possibility this seminar will not be able to be held by NTI due to possible registration issues with the University of Minnesota. Should this be the case, notification will be posted in the WIC Updates as soon as possible.

WIC Positions

JOB OPENING: Part-Time Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist - Osage County Health Department. Osage County Health Department is accepting applications for a part-time Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist for our WIC program. The person in this position would be responsible for planning and implementation of the nutritional components of the local WIC program as well as providing nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education to eligible families. The person in this position would act as the nutrition coordinator and breastfeeding coordinator for the WIC program. WIC experience and training is preferred. This position would be one to two days a month working in the Health Department office in Linn.
