SUBJECT 1: Mandatory Nutrition Phase III Final Food Rule Training - Conference Call Information. This training via conference call will provide attendees with an overview of the phase III final food rule changes that will be implemented August 3rd, 2015. A CPA/Nutritionist from each agency is required to participate. Other staff is encouraged to attend. There will be time for questions & answers during the call. The purpose of this training is to cover the following topics:

  1. Infants 9-11 months of age in Food Package II & III who may receive a Cash Value Voucher/Cash Value Benefit (CVV/CVB) for purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables in lieu of half of the infant baby food.
  2. Women and Children in Food Package III who have a qualifying condition may receive infant food fruits and vegetables in lieu of the Fruit/Vegetable CVV/CVB.
  3. Prenatal who is mostly or fully breastfeeding as it relates to her food package.

SUBJECT 2: Local WIC Agency National WIC Association (NWA) Dues. The State WIC Office will pay the NWA dues for all Local Agencies beginning in FFY 2016. NWA membership includes access to e-publications, webinars and other resources which provide up-to-date information regarding the WIC program. Local agencies should not include funding for NWA membership in their 2016 LAP

SUBJECT 3: Over-The-Telephone Foreign Language Interpretation - Statewide Contract Rates. The Missouri State Office of Administration has announced the new statewide contactor (Worldwide Interpreters) for the Over-the-Telephone Foreign Language Interpretation (Effective period from July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2018). However, local WIC providers are NOT able to utilize this contract at the statewide rates. Local WIC providers can continue to use previous statewide contractors as well as other companies. Please be aware that the rates might be higher than the state rate. If you have any questions, please contact Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov

SUBJECT 4: Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2016 Scope Of Work. It will soon be time to complete the WIC Local Agency Plan (LAP) for FFY 2016. Knowing what changes the Local WIC Provider (LWP) contract will include is an important part of the planning process. Attached is the 2016 Scope of Work, with the changes highlighted. Please contact your WIC technical assistance staff with any questions about the scope of work. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

JOB OPENING: WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor - Affinia Healthcare. Affinia Healthcare has an immediate opening for a part time (18-24 hours per week) Peer Counselor in the WIC program. The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and breastfed one baby (does not have to be currently breastfeeding). The selected candidate will provide basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to WIC eligible prenatal and breastfeeding moms and express enthusiasm about breastfeeding and help mothers enjoy a positive experience. The candidate must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, Home Economic, or closely related field; including or supplemented by at least fifteen (15) semester hours in food and nutrition including diet therapy and community nutrition. The Pike County Health Department is accepting applications for a part time Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist in the WIC Program.
