SUBJECT 3: Participant Fraud/WIC Fraud Warning Flyer. The state WIC office will send new Fraud Warning Flyers (WIC-66) to all Local WIC Providers (LWP) in mid-to-late January 2015. This insert is designed to be used in the participant folder as another opportunity to remind participants that selling or offering to sell WIC foods/formula, including on social media, is considered to be fraud. When the flyers are received, please begin placing them in all participant folders, preferably in front of checks or other documents in the folder, to ensure the flyer is highly visible. Additional flyers may be ordered from the Warehouse when the initial supply is exhausted at the agency.

As a reminder to LWPs, an online fraud reporting tool is available on the main WIC web page (http://health.mo.gov/living/families/wic/index.php) to report suspected fraud, including screenshots of suspected fraud on social media sites (e.g., selling food/formula on Facebook or Craigslist).
The link on the website is titled, “Report WIC Fraud”.

Reports submitted through this online reporting system are immediately transmitted to the State Agency for investigation. Participants/authorized representatives who are advertising WIC provided foods/formula for sale will receive a warning letter from the State for the first incident; a second incident may result in disqualification for one year (or until the claim is paid in full). (ER# 1.06200)

If you have any questions regarding the Fraud Warning flyer or online WIC fraud reporting tool, please contact Debby Hanlon at Debby.Hanlon@health.mo.gov or call 573-751-6196
