SUBJECT 2: NWA Leadership Conference Scholarships. We are pleased to announce that the scholarships for the 2015 NWA Leadership Conference have been awarded to Lori Bohnenstiehl, Nutritionist at Pettis County Health Center and Leona Greer, Nutrition/Breastfeeding Coordinator at Randolph County Health Department. This conference provides an opportunity to bring the message from a local perspective to a national discussion about Federal initiatives affecting the health and nutritional well-being of WIC mothers and young children

SUBJECT 3: Sesame Street Booklet - Families Stand Together. The State WIC office has extra Sesame Street Booklets still available in the DHSS warehouse. The booklet contains the following items:

SUBJECT 4: DHSS Program for Dietetic Interns 2015-2016. We are pleased to announce that our four dietetic intern slots for the 2015-2016 year have been filled through the pre-select process with local WIC provider nutrition staff. We had some excellent candidates for the Missouri Program. Our four LWP interns for the 2015-2016 class are Ericka Arner (Taney County WIC); Lori Bohnenstiehl (Pettis County WIC); Jessica Burgess (Benton County/Pettis County WIC); and Danielle Schroeder (Grace Hill Health Centers WIC). SUBJECT 5: FFY 2015 Program Enhancement Funding. The State WIC Office announces special Operational Adjustment (OA) Funding for LWPs to meet the goals of improving the participants’ WIC experience, and increasing participation and retention. OA grants provide special funding to State Agencies to implement projects that will improve critical services provided by WIC. LWPs may submit proposals to meet these goals through March 9. A complete proposal -- consisting of Attachments A (the Application) and B (Budget of projected costs) -- must be submitted for the proposal to be considered. JOB OPENING: WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor - St. Francois County Health Center. The St. Francois County Health Center in Park Hills, MO, is looking to fill a full time (40 hours/week) or part time (hours to be determined) WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor position. Duties include counseling pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, teaching prenatal and breastfeeding classes, organizing mother support groups and working with other health care professionals to support breastfeeding women. Qualifications include: 1) Personal successful breastfeeding experience 2)Enthusiastic about breastfeeding and able to assist women in achieving a positive breastfeeding experience 3)Current or previous WIC participation preferred, but not mandatory 4)Excellent communication skills 5)High School diploma or GED. The ideal candidate must be dependable and self-motivated. JOB OPENING: WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor - St. Louis County Department of Health. The St. Louis County Department of Health is currently accepting applications for two 24hr/week Breastfeeding Peer Counselor positions within the WIC Program. The selected candidates will provide basic breastfeeding information and support to new mothers and help mothers achieve their own breastfeeding goals. The selected candidates will also teach prenatal and breastfeeding classes, organize mother support groups and work with other health care professionals to support breastfeeding women.
