SUBJECT 1: SAVE THE DATE - Nutrition Coordinator and WIC Coordinator Training. The Nutrition Coordinator and WIC Coordinator Training is an optional training, which is scheduled for March 21st thru March 23rd 2016. We will provide this face-to-face training semi-annually in Jefferson City. The state office will pay for the hotel accommodation. Although optional, the training is highly recommended for Nutrition Coordinators and WIC Coordinators, being key staff at the agency, to understand their roles in providing WIC services. The training covers the various functions of the Nutrition Coordinator and the WIC Coordinator responsibilities, including program planning, development, evaluation and administration, and coordination and implementation of all nutrition and breastfeeding services. Face-to-face training also provides Nutrition Coordinators and WIC Coordinators with an opportunity to network with other LWP coordinators. Please register for the training using the form attached. If you have questions, you may contact Rose Sipakati at Rose.Sipakati@health.mo.gov or Betty Cassidy at Betty.Cassidy@health.mo.gov (ONE ATTACHMENT)

SUBJECT 2: From the WOM - Income Reassessment ER# 3.02000

Question: Are local agency staff required to ask clients if their income has changed at mid-certification appointments? When are local agencies required to reassess income during the certification?

Answer: Federal regulations do not require local agency staff to ask participants about income changes at mid-certification appointments. Once a participant is certified as income-eligible, they are considered eligible for the entire certification period. However, participants have the responsibility to report income changes to the local agency. Additionally, local agency staff must take follow-up actions to reassess a participant’s income eligibility during the current certification period if they receive information indicating that the participant’s household size or household income has changed (this includes anonymous tips received regarding a participant’s income). This reassessment is not required if there are 90 days or less left in the certification period.

If you have further questions, please contact your Technical Assistance (TA) team.

SUBJECT 3: 2016 National Nutrition Month Activities. National Nutrition Month® is a campaign sponsored annually by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
