JOB OPENING: BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR - ST. CHARLES COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
JOB OPENING: PART-TIME WIC NUTRITIONIST - SHANNON COUNTY HEALTH CENTER

SUBJECT 1: Microcuvette & Analyzer Deliveries. Agencies scheduled to receive a shipment of microcuvettes and/or analyzers should begin receiving their shipment the week of Aug. 24, 2015.

Once you have received your order, please verify the number of microcuvettes and analyzers received with the number listed on the packing slip. If the number of microcuvettes/analyzers in the package is the same as the packing slip, sign and date the packing slip. Please fax the packing slip to Lori Baysinger at 573-526-1470, within one week of receiving the shipment. Confirmation on the packing slip is required in order for the State WIC Office to pay for the microcuvettes and send WIC tags for the analyzers. If the number of microcuvettes/analyzers received is different from the packing slip, please call Lori Baysinger at 800-392-8209. If you are unable to locate your packing slip, please send an email stating how many boxes or analyzers you received and the date you received the shipment to Lori.Baysinger@health.mo.gov. Thank you for your prompt cooperation.

SUBJECT 2: REMINDER: University of Minnesota National Maternal Nutrition Intensive Course Seminar Telecast. Nutrition Education Opportunity: WIC Registered Dietitians, Nutritionists, and Public Health Nurses who serve pre-conceptual, pregnant, post-partum and breastfeeding women will want to take advantage of this full two-day National Maternal Nutrition Intensive Course Seminar shown on September 24-25 and again on October 15-16, 2015 in Jefferson City. This year's continuing education program focuses on Dietary Guidelines, Vitamin D in Pregnancy and Lactation, Promoting Breastfeeding Among Obese Women, Environmental and Policy Approaches to Breastfeeding Promotion and Support, Depression and Physical Activity in Pregnancy and Postpartum, Fetal Origins of Disease, Choline Supplementation in Children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, Nutrient Contents of Infant and Toddler Foods, Early Infant Feeding Influences on the Infant Microbiome, and Food Allergies. This training is presented by the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health and will be shown by the WICNS Nutrition Training Institute. Space is limited to 30 participants. Registrants will have the option to register for only one day of either of the two sessions provided. You may register for the training here

SUBJECT 3: 2016 WIC Paraprofessional/Professional Training for WIC Certifiers and CPAs. Starting in January 2016 the WIC Paraprofessional-Professional training will continue as face-to-face in Jefferson City with a change in training times. Our goal is to continue improving training to meet staff needs while enhancing nutrition services in WIC.

SUBJECT 4: Webinar - WIC Child Retention Strategies. USDA is sponsoring a Webinar on WIC Child Retention Strategies for State and Local WIC Agencies on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 1-2 PM.  The Webinar can be accessed by phone and the internet. SUBJECT 5: WIC Approved Food List (English) Shipping Plan. - The State WIC office plans to ship the new WIC Approved Food List (effective October 1, 2015) to all local WIC providers during the week of August 24, 2015. Please open the packets to ensure that you have the new food lists for October 1, 2015, as soon as you receive packets from UPS. The new food list in English and Spanish will be posted on the WIC Food website during the week of August 24, 2015. If your agency does not receive the new food list by September 4, 2015 or you have any questions, please contact Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov

They have bundles that will give several CEUs. Other webinars at this site are CDR approved, but may not be appropriate for WIC CEUs. Please contact your district nutritionist for approval. JOB OPENING: Part-Time WIC Nutritionist - Shannon County Health Center. The Shannon County Health Center is seeking a part-time WIC Nutritionist to work two days per week. Responsibilities include conducting nutrition assessments, assigning risk factors and providing appropriate nutrition and breastfeeding education to all participants according to WIC program policies and procedures. Minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in dietetics, public health nutrition, human nutrition, nutritional sciences, nutrition and fitness, sports nutrition, restaurant and food sciences, or home economics; including at least 15 semester hours in foods and nutrition from a four-year program, and at least one course in diet therapy I and II and one course in community nutrition or nutrition in life cycle/life cycle nutrition.
