SUBJECT 1: 2014 WIC Conference Registration Form: The registration form for the 2014 WIC Conference in Columbia, MO., is attached. The conference will be October 19 - 21. The form is also located at the following web site: www.mowica.org site as well. All conference activities will take place at the Holiday Inn Executive Center, 2200 I-70 Drive SW, Columbia, MO 65203. Room rates are $89.95 for single/double occupancy plus state and local taxes. Reservation deadline is 9/19/14. Reservations received after 9/19/14 are subject to space availability and at prevailing room rates. For reservations call the hotel directly at 1-800-HOLIDAY (1-800-465-4329). Please tell the reservation desk that you are with the Missouri WIC Conference to receive your discounted rate. Reserve early as rooms will fill quickly. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

SUBJECT 2: WICHealth.org Statewide Roll Out: In response to the questions about how soon LWPs can start getting ready for WICHealth.org implementation, please see below

    1. LWPs should become familiar with the WICHealth.org website.
    2. With guidance from your TA nutritionist complete theWICHealth.org implementation plan. (Attachment in WIC update message August 8th) (This can be done after the September 4th training.)
    3. Each local WIC provider is required to have an e-mail address so that the participants can have their WICHealth.org certificate mailed directly to the LWP.
    4. To set up LWPs email account for participants to submit their certificates:
      There are two options for e-mail addresses to be set up. Certificates of completion will be e-mailed to these accounts once they are set up.
    1. To set up staff support accounts
      After the LWP account is set up for participants to submit their certificates, then the LWP can submit a request for the staff account(s) to be set up by WICHealth.org by contacting help@wichealth.org.

Important to note: All LWP email accounts, the staff support accounts and implementation plans should be completed by October 31st to be able to serve all Missouri WIC participants effectively.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: Nutritionist. The Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers WIC Program is accepting resumes for a full-time nutritionist in St. Louis Missouri. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public health nutrition, dietetics, nutrition, food, home economics, or a closely related field, including or supplemented by at least 15 semester hours in food and nutrition, including diet therapy and community nutrition. JOB OPPORTUNITY: Nutritionist III - DHSS Northwest District Health Office. The Bureau of WIC and Nutrition Services has an opening for a Nutritionist III in the Northwest District Health Office in Independence. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance to local WIC providers, monitoring, policy review and revision, special formula approvals, applying health data in program planning, and occasionally acting as a preceptor for dietetic interns. Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication, teamwork, confidentiality and prioritization are required skills. A registered dietitian, licensed in Missouri, is preferred.
