  1. Food & Formula Reference Guide (FFRG) - Effective September 30, 2013: The FFRG has been updated. There are two parts:

    • FFRG - Formula Listing
    • FFRG - Guidelines

Please share this change with all your staff and begin using the updated FFRG on September 30, 2013. If you have any questions and/or suggestions, please feel free to contact Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov. (TWO ATTACHMENTS)

  2. Education Opportunity Reminder: Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals & Communities Online Workshop: The University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services’ Maternal & Child Health Bureau, Midwest Center for Life-Long Learning in Public Health (MCLPH), and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services’ Nutrition Training Institute (NTI) will present the Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals & Communities online workshop with Jodi Pfarr of Minneapolis, MN. This seminar will be held at the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services’ Wild Birch and Maple Conference Rooms at the 930 Wildwood Drive Building in Jefferson City on October 3, 2013 from 8:30am-4:30pm.

The Bridges Out of Poverty workshop provides both the social service provider and the community member key lessons in dealing with individuals from poverty. Topics include increasing awareness of the differences in economic cultures and how those differences affect opportunities for success. Please see the attached registration form for details and forward this to anyone you think would benefit from this online session. Space is limited to 40 attendees, so it is important that you register ahead of time. If you have any questions, please contact our District TA Nutritionist. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

  3. UPS Shipping/Packaging Guidelines: UPS is the carrier that the State WIC office uses when a WIC agency has unused formula and another WIC agency could use the formula for one of their participants. If the boxes are not packaged correctly and the box is damaged, UPS will not reimburse the State WIC office. Please review the attached UPS shipping/packaging guidelines when shipping formula from one agency to another. We seem to be having a growing problem with damaged packages and UPS not reimbursing the state. If you have any questions, please discuss with your TA Team. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

  4. Translated WIC Food Lists: The new WIC approved food list is available in 16 languages (including Spanish) through the WIC Food website. Printer friendly versions of this list (in all 16 languages) should be available during the week of September 30, 2013. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov.
