  1. Coming Soon: MOWINS Hot Topics: The WIC Help Desk would like to introduce a new resource that will be available beginning in November 2013 called MOWINS Hot Topics. MOWINS Hot Topics will feature a live webinar with WIC Help Desk staff regarding a specific issue or process in MOWINS that can be improved with additional clarification and guidance. MOWINS Hot Topics will be open to all LWP staff. Registration will be required to receive the webinar link. Additionally, to review issues that are important to you, the WIC Help Desk will be collecting suggestions for future MOWINS Hot Topic sessions. Information regarding dates, times, topics, and registration will follow in a future WIC Update.

  2. Crystal Reports: A new report (Benefits without Blood Work, in Food Instrument Reconciliation section) was posted to Crystal on October 2, 2013. Please review the table of contents (attached) or at http://health.mo.gov/living/families/wic/wiclwp/data.php. If you have any questions about the new report, please contact your TA team member (ONE ATTACHMENT).

  3. WIC Appointment/Reminder Cards (WIC 39): The WIC Reminder/Appointment cards are available at the DHSS Warehouse. Please order the cards as needed. If you have any question/suggestions, please feel free to contact Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov.

  4. Initial Nutrition Education Handout (#626): The Initial Nutrition Education Handout (#626 bilingual English and Spanish) is printed. This handout was developed to be used for the Initial Nutrition Education contact at certification and/or re-certification visit for all WIC participants.

    The DHSS warehouse will ship this handout to all local providers early November 2013. This handout in 17 languages, including English, will be available through the website: http://health.mo.gov/living/families/wic/wiclwp/publications.php.   5. WIC Positions

    JOB OPPORTUNITY: Nutritionist/Dietitian-Swope Health Services: Swope Health Services WIC Program has an opening for a Nutritionist/Dietitian. This full-time position will be responsible for but not limited to determining eligibility of WIC participants, providing nutrition and breastfeeding education. The candidate must have graduated from an accredited four- year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, Home Economics, or closely related field; including or supplemented by at least fifteen(15) semester hours in Food and Nutrition including Diet Therapy and Community Nutrition.
