  1. Reasons Stopped Breastfeeding Reports: Two new reports have been added to Crystal Reports that provides information on the reasons women stop breastfeeding. One report provides summary information and the other is a detailed report providing participant information. These reports can be used to guide local WIC agencies on what breastfeeding interventions and education they should focus on.

The list of “Reasons Stopped Breastfeeding” on the drop down box on the health information tab was shortened to seven with the last MOWINS release. Many agencies reported that the previous list was too detailed and making an accurate selection was time consuming. The list was shortened to broader topics keeping in mind that the best use of this information is to guide outreach and education. Attached is a list showing the previous reasons and a suggestion on how these fit under the broader topics. If you have any questions please contact Kathy Mertzlufft by phone at 573-526-4792 or by email at Kathy.Mertzlufft@health.mo.gov. (ONE ATTACHMENT)

  2. REMINDER: WIC Help Desk Meeting: This is a reminder that there will be no WIC Help Desk coverage on Friday, August 23, 2013, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Although staff will not be available during these hours, feel free to leave a message and all calls will be returned as soon as possible. The purpose of these meetings is to review processes and procedures in order to provide the highest quality customer service to local agencies and WIC participants.

In our ongoing efforts to better our customer service, please remember to complete the WIC Help Desk Customer Service Survey regarding your experience after contacting the WIC Help Desk. The survey can be located here and should take approximately 3 minutes to complete. Your assistance is greatly appreciated! If you have questions, please contact Melissa Seaver at 800-554-2544 or Melissa.Seaver@health.mo.gov.

  3. Civil Rights Training Update: The WIC Civil Rights training has been converted from a self-study course to an e-Learning course. The training has also been updated with information from USDA’s updated non-discrimination statement. The training is located at http://health.mo.gov/living/families/wic/wiclwp/training.php. It is about halfway down the page, under Other Required Trainings.

If you have any questions regarding this training, please contact Debby Hanlon at 573-751-6196 or by e-mail at Debby.Hanlon@health.mo.gov.

  4. Learning Dynamics WIC Customer Service Tip: Attached is the latest issue of “Customer Service Notes for WIC from Learning Dynamics.” This issue discusses respecting differences, which is part of cultural competency. Please share with all staff. (ONE ATTACHMENT)
