    • Starting October 2011 all WIC staff will be required to complete an ASAP form to be able to access the ShowMeVax registry to review immunization records.  With the ShowMeVax read-only access, LWP staff can access the registry to check immunization status of participants when a hard copy immunization record is not presented during certification.
        1. Local health staff may request ShowMeVax access immediately by completing an ASAP form.  Please ensure all ASAP requests are made no later than November 4, 2011. (Please see the attachment with instructions on how to completed the ASAP ShowMeVax Read only Users Access)
        2. Non local health department staff will need to initiate an MOA and fax it to Cassie Lauberth at 573.526.8692 no later than October 31, 2011.  (Please see the attachment to see if your LWP already has an MOA in place).Once the MOA is in place, complete an ASAP form immediately to gain ShowMeVax access.
    • During the period between October and December 2011, LWPs will get familiar with ShowMeVax and become familiar with how to read the immunization records using the provided ShowMeVax Tutorial.
    • In January 2012 all LWP staff will be required to take a mandatory Immunization Training that will be provided through webinar which has been developed by the state WIC office and the Bureau of Immunization.
    • LWP must train all staff annually using the state provided training materials.  Refer to ER# 1.01550 for LWP training documentation requirements.
    • The LWP shall provide all new staff with the immunization training within 60 days of the date of hire or rehire.
    • During contract monitoring, state staff will be checking for compliance with staff training documentation and participant screening and referral process during certification.
    • Please note changes will be made to Referral Policy ER# 1.01800 in the immunization section to reflect new guidelines on screening and documentation and will be sent to LWPs at a later date.”

Important Note:  Immunization screening and referral is a standard part of WIC Certification but will not be used as a condition of eligibility for WIC. (TWO ATTACHMENTS)
