  3. Microcuvette & Analyzer Deliveries:  Agencies scheduled to receive a shipment of microcuvettes and/or analyzers should be receiving their shipment this week, March 7th.

Once you have received your order, please verify the number of microcuvettes and analyzers received with the number listed on the packing slip.  If the number of microcuvettes/analyzers in the package is the same as the packing slip, sign and date the packing slip.  Please fax the packing slip to Leslie at 573-526-1470, within one (1) week of receiving the shipment.  Confirmation on the packing slip is required in order for the State WIC Office to pay for the microcuvettes and send WIC tags for the analyzers.  If the number of microcuvettes/analyzers received is different from the packing slip, please call Leslie at 800-392-8209.  If you are unable to locate your packing slip, please send an email stating how many boxes or analyzers you received and the date you received the shipment to Leslie.Worrell@health.mo.gov.  Thank you for your prompt cooperation.

  4. March is National Nutrition Month -Week One Activities:  March is National Nutrition Month and this year’s theme is “Eat Right with Color.”  The more hues on your plate means you are getting a wider variety of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that help to reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease and other chronic conditions.  MyPyramid recommends most adults eat 2½ to 5 cups of fruits and vegetables a day.  Attached is more information about getting the “hues” on your plate and a recipe for Vegetarian Spaghetti Sauce.  If you have any questions about these materials, please contact Pat Simmons at pat.simmons@health.mo.gov or 573-522-2843.

  5. March of Dimes 2011 Community Grants:  March of Dimes, Missouri Chapter is now accepting applications for 2011 Community Grants.  Your local agency may want to consider this funding opportunity.  Funding proposals must address at least one of the funding priorities that are listed in the following application.  The guidelines and application forms are available online at March of Dimes.  One of the funding priorities pertains to WIC:  Increasing pregnant women’s participation in state or local maternal child health programs (e.g. Medicaid, CHIP, WIC) through enhanced outreach, education and public awareness.  For inquiries regarding Community Grants, please contact Missouri’s chapter office at (314) 513-9990.
