Congratulations to Jayna Slade: A long time voice on the WIC Help Desk is leaving WIC. Jayna Slade has accepted a training position with the Bureau of Special Health Care Needs here at the state office. This is a well deserved promotion for Jayna. Jayna has been a valuable asset to WIC during the past eight years. She worked at Miller County WIC for five years and then was on the WIC Help Desk at the state for three years. Jayna’s last day with WIC will be March 31, 2011. Congratulations, Jayna, on your promotion and we wish you the best in the future!
New Income Eligibility Guidelines- April 1: USDA has sent new Income Eligibility Guidelines for WIC. The income amounts have gone up slightly and will go into effect April 1, 2011. MOWINS will be updated with the new guidelines on April 1. The new guidelines are attached.

Weekly “Eat Right Nutrition Tip”: This week’s focus is on blue and purple fruits and veggies. Use this week’s message and recipe for blueberry muffins in an employee email or newsletter to help promote the benefits of adding these vibrant fruits and vegetables to your meals. More color equals more nutrients so make the most of your meals by filling at least half your plate with a rainbow of hues. JOB OPPORTUNITY-Breastfeeding Peer Counselor-JFCAC: Jefferson-Franklin Community Action Corporation WIC has an opening for a breastfeeding peer counselor for the Hillsboro office, three days per week. Duties include counseling prenatal and breastfeeding women, managing the breast pump loan program and co-managing the support group. Must have one year of personal breastfeeding experience.
