  4. Text4Baby Contest Update:  Belated Congratulations to Howell, Laclede, Marion, Dallas, Holt, Mercer, Oregon, Osage, and Ozark Counties

Certificates of recognition were awarded to nine counties in the Text4baby Show Me We Can Do It statewide county competition.  Howell, Laclede and Marion Counties received Certificates of Award for increasing Text4baby by the highest percentage.  Six additional counties had very low Text4baby enrollment at the start of the contest but were recognized with Certificates of Appreciation for their efforts to increase Text4baby enrollment during the campaign.  These counties were Dallas, Holt, Mercer, Oregon, Osage, and Ozark.  The awards were presented on September 29, 2011 at the Missouri Annual Public Health Conference in Columbia, Missouri.  Thanks to all WIC agencies for your efforts to increase Text4baby enrollment.

A new interactive feature was added to Text4Baby in October 2011.  Subscribers are asked if they are planning to get a flu shot.  Their response prompts the system to send a follow-up message, which may include an educational message and/or the option to receive a general reminder two weeks prior to the appointment or a specific reminder 24 hours prior to the appointment.  In Missouri an ad hoc flu shot message was also delivered November 29.  Ad hoc means it goes to all women registered for the service on that given day.

Refer to the WIC Update of 6/28/10 for information on how participants can sign up for Text4Baby, the service to receive text messages timed to the due date or the baby’s date of birth. If you have any questions, please contact your district TA staff.
