SUBJECT 3: FFY 2010 End of Year Billing Due December 10, 2010
SUBJECT 4: New Participation Report
- Issuance of Food Package to 6 – 11 month Old Infant: Please see the attachment with the change that has been made to MOWINS in the issuance to the 6-11 month old infant (Non-breastfeeding and Partially Breastfed infant) who receives an exempt formula/medical food BUT Does Not Receive Complementary Infant Foods (Infant Cereal, Infant Fruit, and Infant Vegetables) (ER# 2.07000).
MOWINS is able to print an additional formula check for 1, 2 or 3 cans of formula for infants 6-11 months who do not receive complementary infant foods (infant cereal, infant fruit, and infant vegetables) (ER# 2.07000). As a result of this change the LWP will be able to provide services faster and more efficiently to WIC Participants without having to do a direct shipment as has been necessary in the past. If you have any questions, please contact your TA nutritionist.
- Breastfeeding Literature in the warehouse: The warehouse now has in stock again, “20 Great Reasons to Breastfeed” (catalog #200) and has added a new brochure from Noodle Soup titled, “Breastfeeding for Good Health” (catalog #189). For more information on literature that is available in the warehouse and how to order go to the Warehouse on the department's website. If you have any questions about breastfeeding literature, please contact Kathy Mertzlufft at Kathy.Mertzlufft@health.mo.gov or call her at 573-526-4792.

Please contact your District Technical Assistance staff if you need assistance.
- New Participation Report: We’ve received some questions about the new participation report that is available in Crystal Reports and the accuracy of the data. The new report counts participants the same way as the previous 425 Excel/PDF version. We did three months of validation on the data (comparing new to old) before the final decision was made to move forward with the new report. The only difference between this new report and the old report is the format and the WIC categories have been expanded for breastfeeding. The counts are the same.
One reason that the initial participation count for October could be different is that many agencies either shut down WIC services or had very limited WIC services available during the last week of October for the WIC Conference. When the report runs at the end of November, it will show the 30 day (final) count for October.
If you have any questions about the new participation report and your agencies count, please contact your district TA team members.
