  1. June Caseload Update:  June 2008 caseload set another all time record month with participation of 144,095.  At nine months YTD of FFY2008, caseload is now 72,723 ahead of the same time period in FFY2007.  The greatest growth was in services to children ages 1 through 5.  Please see the attached graph.  Clinics must be very busy providing needed services to these participants.  Our thanks to local agency staff for their continued hard work.

  2. 2009 Draft WIC Contract with 4 Scopes of Work and a sample Budget Page are included for your review.  Scopes of Work include:  WIC services/caseload, Breastfeeding Peer Counseling, Outreach, and Farmers' Market Nutrition Program plus the sample budget page.

    Please Note:
    a) Section 13.2.3 of the WIC caseload/services scope of work states the contractor will be reimbursed for each participant who is provided a service at a per participant monthly rate of $10.00.  For caseload reimbursement the changes in the number of participants served will no longer need to be revised through an amendment.  Staff at central office will enter the increases or decreases into the administrative cost report online and the payments will be adjusted accordingly.

    b) Section 11.6 of the WIC services contract includes a change in the date for the monthly invoice from the 10th to the 11th of the month.

    c) WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counseling scope is included for those who applied and were selected for this grant.

    d) Outreach funding is available to each agency interested in developing a goal in their Local Agency Plan and budget for how they will use these funds to address at least one of the two identified goals of increasing participation of pregnant women in WIC in their first trimester or increasing breastfeeding initiation and duration. Agencies are not required to develop an outreach goal. This replaces the mid-year enhancement project.

    e) The Farmers' Market Nutrition Program scope of work is available only to agencies in the three counties participating last year, Oregon, Washington and Jackson Counties.

The actual amount for each contract will be loaded into the WIC Online system during the LAP process and be available for local agency staff to use in developing their budgets for FY 2009.  If you have questions please contact your district technical assistance staff or Kathleen Davis at 573-526-2821 or kathleen.davis@health.mo.gov.  For information on the Breastfeeding Peer Counseling contact Kathy Mertzlufft at 573-526-4729 or kathy.mertzlufft@health.mo.gov.  For information on the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program contact Randy Walton at 573-751-6204, press 2 and then 6 and ask for Randy or randy.walton@health.mo.gov.
