- Education and Nutrition Committees Information: The State WIC office has formed two committees, an Education Committee and a Nutrition Committee. Both committees are made up of six nutritionists/CPAs from the local WIC providers and six State WIC office Nutritionists. Each committee has had their first meeting. Minutes of the first Nutrition Committee Meeting and list of committee members are attached. Minutes from the Education Committee and list of committee members will be included in the Weekly Update of April 23. The minutes of both meetings will be included in the Weekly Updates as well as sending them via e-mail to the Nutrition Coordinators at the LWPs since not all Nutrition Coordinators have easy access to the Weekly Updates. As you review the minutes and have ideas to share with either committee, please feel free to contact a committee member. Current plans are to have each committee meet/conference call on a monthly basis.
- Extra Formula (Attachments): A database listing unused infant formulas and medical foods is kept at the State WIC Office. With the implementation of the approval authority for many infant formulas and medical foods now at the local level, the State Office may not always know what is available. Please check the listing in order to utilize formulas with the most recent expiration date first, prior to placing an order, to help keep food costs down.
Attached is a current listing of extra formula available at different LWPs and guiding principles for shipping created to assist you when sending or receiving extra supply of infant formula. Red font means the formula will be expiring in 2007. Please be sure to notify your district nutritionist or D'Anne Ward at email@example.com when you have unused formula available at your agency so it may be added to the database.
