- The Microcuvette Survey will allow the State to order supplies of microcuvettes for each LWP on a timely basis. Please complete and return the survey to assure no interruption in the supply of microcuvettes.
- Attached is the updated Missouri WIC Approved Infant Formulas, Exempt Formulas, and Medical Foods Reference Sheet, effective February 1, 2006. A total of 11 items (nine metabolic formulas and two Enfamil LIPIL formulas 3 fl oz. bottle) were added. Since November 14, 2005, at the request of the LWPS, you were given the authority to approve more formulas; with this authority comes the responsibility to approve formulas as stated in the Approval Authority column of the attached. Do not call the State WIC Office for approval of formulas that the LWP has the responsibility to approve.
However, when you approve non-contract standard formulas, you must fax (573-526-1470) or mail the completed WIC 29 form to Takako Tagami. If you have any questions, please contact Takako Tagami at 1-800-392-8209 or Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov.
For those few formulas that require the LWP to get state approval, the process for this is to call the State WIC Office at 1-800-392-8209. We have 5 registered dietitians in the State WIC office who rotate taking formula approval calls so it is imperative that you call the 1-800 number. Formula calls at the State WIC Office will be transferred to the State WIC Office registered dietitian responsible for formula approval calls that day.
- The State WIC office is currently working on developing a brochure for the Initial Nutrition Education Contact. If your agency has developed any brochures for this, please fax them by February 15, to Kelly Dotterweich at 573-526-1470 or e-mail to Kelly.Dotterweich@health.mo.gov. We would like to incorporate ideas from local WIC providers in developing a brochure. If you have any questions and/or suggestions, please contact Takako Tagami at 1-800-392-8209 or e-mail to Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov.
- A change has been made in HANDS so that when an agency is attempting to print food instruments for a participant who has an "unknown" race and/or ethnicity in the common area, the agency can correct the unknown on the screen and print food instruments immediately, without having to call the HANDS Help Desk. This change is on the H651/H652/H653/H654 food instrument print screens.
Complete instructions for each FI print screen are attached.
This will be implemented in HANDS on February 6, 2006.
If you have any questions or experience any problems with this change, please call Melissa Seaver immediately at 800-392-8209.
