SUBJECT: Attached is the USDA/FNS Proposed WIC Food Package Rule
- Vena Training - Attached is the Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment (VENA) Training Registration Brochure. This is a Train-the-Trainer training. This is a mandatory training for the Nutrition Coordinator from your agency. The number of staff each agency is allowed to send to this required training is dependent upon your agency's caseload. Space at each training site is limited. If your monthly caseload is less than 1000, you can send 1 person to this training. If your monthly caseload is 1000 - 3000 you can send 2 people. If your caseload is greater than 3000 you can send 3 people to this training. Each local WIC provider was given additional funds for FFY 2007 to attend this training.
By September 8, please complete the attached and send to Michele Bailey at Michele.Bailey@health.mo.gov. If you have questions, contact Phyllis Fuller at Phyllis.Fuller@health.mo.gov.
- The USDA/FNS Proposed WIC Food Package Rule was published today in the Federal Register. The State WIC Office will be commenting on the rule. The National WIC Association (NWA) will be drafting comments. When we receive a copy of NWAs draft, we will e-mail their comments to the LWPS. We hope that each LWP will send a letter to FNS regarding the food package rule change. You can use the NWA comments as a model or template. The comment period officially ends on November 6, 2006. The Food Package Rule can be seen at the following web site:
