July 18, 2005 WIC Update
SUBJECT: 2006 Local Agency Plan (LAP)
SUBJECT: WIC HANDS Training
SUBJECT: Additional Media Literacy Training Opportunities
- As you know August is the time to complete the LAP. The completed LAP will need to be submitted to the State WIC Office by e-mail by August 31, 2005. Attached is the NEW LAP 2006.xls file for your agency to complete and submit, which already shows the cost per participant increase to $8.75. Also attached is an example of a LAP for your review if needed. E-mail your agency's completed LAP to Linda Rost at Linda.Rost@health.mo.gov. Later this week (July 18-22), you will receive the FFY 2006 caseload numbers, the breastfeeding peer counseling program fund information (if your agency is participating in the Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program), state data for the needs assessment and the Power point explanation from the training for the Needs Identification worksheet. It is necessary to send two e-mails with the LAP information because the size of the attachments are too big for some LWP systems to handle. If you have questions about the LAP please contact Glenn Studebaker.
- All HANDS trainings for 2005 are full. In the Monday, July 25 e-mail you will receive the January - June 2006 HANDS Training Schedule. A complete WIC training schedule for all WIC trainings for January through June 2006 will be e-mailed at a later date.
- Additional Media Literacy Training Opportunities:
The Nutrition Training Institute will be offering the popular training, Media Literacy: An Innovative Approach for the Prevention and Management of Childhood Overweight again due to popular demand. There is no charge for WIC employees. The Kansas City area training (that had been canceled due to speaker's illness) has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 29. See attached registration flyer. One more session has been scheduled for Sept. 26 in Columbia because of numerous requests around the state. See attached brochure PDF.
