Missouri Injury and Violence Prevention Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Missouri Injury and Violence Prevention Advisory Committee (MIVPAC) is to provide advice, expertise, and guidance to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Injury and Violence Prevention Program and to establish injury prevention as a state priority. The Committee’s responsibilities include assisting the Injury and Violence Prevention Program in its mission to reduce the rate of morbidity and mortality to Missouri residents by:
- Recommending priorities and objectives for state injury prevention initiatives.
- Recommending actions and strategies to address priorities and accomplish objectives in the state plan.
- Identifying and mobilizing state, regional, and community resources and networks (i.e., public and private sector organizations, coalitions, funding sources, elected officials) needed to support and implement state injury prevention initiatives.
- Providing ongoing leadership, consultation, and guidance in the promotion and implementation of a state plan for injury prevention initiatives.
The Injury and Violence Prevention Advisory Committee addresses all injury areas including: unintentional injuries, assaults, and self-inflicted injuries.
