Friday Facts
Publication Guidelines
(Revised October 2006)
Content
The Friday Facts targets Local Public Health
Agencies, their governing bodies and other entities directly involved in the
public health system. It is designed to alert readers to issues impacting the local public health system and to provide
information of interest. Items relating only to DHSS employees or DHSS employee issues will not be included.
Deadline
Items must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on
Wednesday of the week that the item is to be published. Any item received after this deadline will
be considered for the next week’s publication. Due to the size and complexity of the Friday Facts and the time involved
in such publication, late items cannot be accepted. Exceptions will be made only in the event of true
emergencies. Send items to heather.rhodes@health.mo.gov.
Educational
Opportunities
Only
Seminars/Workshops/Inservices/etc., sponsored by the Missouri Department of
Health and Senior Services, local public health agencies, or by non-profit organizations
that are of interest to local public health agency staff will be announced in
the Friday Facts. A registration form
will be accepted as an attachment. (Attachments containing pictures/graphics should be submitted in pdf
format.)
Format
The font used for the Friday Facts is
Times New Roman - 12. Please use that
font for your items and attachments. (Attachments should be limited, and those with pictures/graphics should
be submitted in pdf format.)
Job
Opportunities
Job Opportunities
for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Local Public Health
Agencies, educational institutions, and governmental agencies whom DHSS is
working with on a project may be publicized in the Friday Facts. Note: Only DHSS central office job openings that have been approved by the
Office of Personnel can be published. Approval is based on the need for statewide recruitment, or when finding
qualified candidates for positions is difficult.
Meeting
Announcements
Only Meetings
sponsored by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Local
Public Health Agencies, or by non-profit organizations that are of interest to
local public health agency staff may be announced in the Friday Facts. A registration form will be accepted as an
attachment. (Attachments containing
pictures/graphics should be submitted in pdf format.)
Re-publication
An item will only be published once unless
additional publications (maximum of 3) are specifically requested.
Size
Items submitted for inclusion in the
weekly Friday Facts should be kept as short as possible. Items should be in the form of a short
paragraph containing a brief summary of information, with the name of a contact
person, for obtaining more information. Rule of thumb is one to two paragraphs of less than 150 words
total.
Editing
All
items submitted for publication in the Friday Facts are subject to editing by
the Center for Local Public Health Services.
