The Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) is pleased to announce the release of the FY 2014 Rural Access to Emergency Devices Grant Program (funding opportunity announcement number: HRSA-14-129). ORHP expects to fund approximately three grantees. The purpose of ORHP’s Rural Access to Emergency Devices Grant Program is to:
- Purchase automated external defibrillators (AEDs) that have been approved, or cleared for marketing, by the Food and Drug Administration
- Provide defibrillator and basic life support training in automated external defibrillator usage through the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or other nationally recognized training courses
- Place the AEDs in rural communities with local organizations. Successful applicants may request up to $150,000 per for up to three years
The deadline to submit an application is April 30, 2014. FORHP strongly recommends that applicants submit their applications prior to the due date to avoid any technological problems. All applications have to be submitted electronically in www.grants.gov, and waiver request to submit a paper copy application will not be accepted.
